Spain bans gambling advertising on soccer jersey

Advertising of gambling operators has been banned in the Spanish La Liga starting next season. This means that eight football teams will need to look for other sponsors. Moreover, the ban will not be just advertising on the uniform of football players. All equipment was banned, plus sponsorship of stadium names.

The story began in early June, when betting companies were initially limited to displaying ads to a four-hour period from 1:00 to 5:00. The rule prohibiting participation in advertising of gambling products of famous athletes, which has been in effect since January of this year, also remains.

However, there was no ban on advertising around the perimeter of the field. It is noted that everything will depend on the rules of each autonomous community. So, while gambling operators still have access to the vast base of football fans.
